Please forgive me
It's been quite sometime since I've been on this site. Heck, I didn't even know it still was worked. Nonetheless, I've decided to salvage a once prosperous outlet of works and ideas that, due to time constraints and/or loss of interest, was neglected. However, I am changing the format of the site in hopes that it will be different than any other blog you are familiar with.
For about four years now, or at least since I've been out of highschool, I've had this burning passion for our educational system to do a better job of making young people think for themselves. If you were a regular reader of my first blog, you remember the piece I wrote about voting patterns in our society. In my opinion, that has direct relations to this idea that we are teaching our children that they can't do it on their on. In past generations this hasn't been a issue mainly because you were forced to grow up because of economical issues within the family structure. But even more than that, you were expected to grow up because the moral fabric that was instilled in you told you to. With that moral influence came accountablity which in turn strengthened society as a whole. No matter your view on morality, I think we can all agree that if we can find some way for our young people to become more accountable for their actions, we would all be alot better off.
With that said, my hope for this blog is that it become a forum for debate about real issues that are affecting our society in real ways. Whether you like it or not, WE ARE THE LEADERS of our generation. Think about our circle of friends, and all the people and contacts we know and have. It goes in all directions.
Seriously, don't be afraid to speak out for what you believe in. Have an opinion. Any opinion. But let it be heard. Being silent is the only way to be wrong.
My idea for the blog is to post a short essay on a controversial topic every day of two and then let you decide for yourself. But please be serious about it and don't be afraid to cross political lines just because you already have a label. Also, if you have an idea for debate e-mail me and I will post it.
